Dear Friends, As I trust you all know Helen Maslowski, the Heart and Soul of Cedar House Quilting, left us suddenly at the beginning of May this year. Without Helen there is no Cedar House Quilting. While the business is closing permanently we are offering her friends and loyal customers one last chance to stock up on the things you may need. Our Final Sale will be August 8th from 9-5 at the Little Britain United Church Hall. Everything is being sold at 50% of our already ridiculously low prices. We chose Little Britain Hall not only because it has ample space and much better parking than our little shop, but also it has been the home base for InStitches, the group of ladies who took Helen under their wings as a novice quilter and nurtured and supported her first as a quilter and then as a small business owner. Helen always had a special affection for the InStitches gang and it seems somehow fitting to end the journey there. When we started the retail portion of this business Helen’s goal was that it was to be a service to local quilters. She always tried to stock the store with the things that she thought you would need (or want). If you needed a special dinkiideedoodad for a project, just ask Helen and she would try to find it. There may be a few dinkiideedoodads left and this is your opportunity to pick one or ten up at a great price. Helen always thought of anyone who came through her door as her best friend and for her that was the best part of the business. She thrived on seeing old friends and new friends and chatting, often about quilting, but also about pets or grandchildren or travels or just about anything except religion or politics. Helen is missed by many but her spirit lives on in the memories of all those who were fortunate enough to get to know her. We started Cedar House Quilting with a very simple 2 prong business plan:
2. When it’s not fun stop doing it. The fun was always the primary and best part of the business. Who would have thought that a simple post retirement hobby would lead us on such a delightful adventure. It has been an amazing journey meeting so many wonderful people along the way. Alas, FUN has left the building and it is time to say adieu. Thanks for taking this journey along with us. Hope to see you at least one last time on August 8. Best Regards, Geoffrey (Boy Friday) Kaya (D.O.G.)
